24-hour Mobile (Onsite) Response

Crisis Onsite Program

The McHenry County Onsite Crisis Program provides face-to-face assessments when comprehensive and immediate services are necessary. The program is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is staffed by Qualified Mental Health Professionals. To access onsite services, call the Crisis Line at 1-800-892-8900 (local access and onsite response only).

Face-to-face assessments are performed in hospital emergency rooms, schools, police stations and under special conditions within an individual’s home.

We try to avoid unnecessary presentation to the local emergency rooms whenever possible; therefore, if you are trying to access behavioral health care, please call the Crisis Line for assistance and/or for immediate scheduling with a crisis professional for an assessment outside of the emergency rooms.

The primary goals of the Onsite Crisis Team are to assess and stabilize the crisis situation, and link individuals and/or families to the least restrictive level of care needed. All onsites are assessed to determine the level of service needed. Services include but are not limited to:

  • Emotional support
  • Relinkage to present services
  • Referrals to outpatient treatment
  • Partial hospitalization
  • Inpatient hospitalization

CISD and Grief Support Services

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Grief Support (CISD) is also offered by our Crisis Team to individuals, families and other groups such as schools, emergency rooms, fire and rescue, and police departments. CISD is useful to anyone who has been faced with a critical incident such as a traumatic death, accident, and/or experience. The two main goals of CISD are to:

  • Lessen the impact of distressing critical incidents on the individual exposed and affected by them
  • Accelerate recovery from those events before harmful stress reactions have a chance to damage the performance, careers, health and families of those affected.

If you would like to contact the McHenry County Crisis Center for further information regarding our Crisis Onsite Program or CISD Services, please contact us directly from our Contact Information area.
